Mercury moves from Sagittarius into Capricorn on 18 December 2027 at 11:58 UTC and stays for 19 days, crossing into Aquarius on 6 January 2028 at 05:58 UTC. Capricorn is an earth sign of the cardinal mode, ruled by Saturn. Mercury travels direct for the whole stay, with no retrograde in this window.
The tradition treats Mercury in Capricorn as a practical, deliberate thinker. Speech becomes more measured, plans become more structured, and attention turns to what is realistic rather than what is merely appealing. Astrologers often read this placement as favoring careful wording, clear schedules and commitments that can actually be kept. Because the stay spans the turn of the calendar year, a modest suggestion is to write down one or two concrete plans with dates attached, and to check the details before agreeing to anything.
