Sun and Moon meet at 27°29' Aries on 17 April 2026, with the new moon exact at 11:52 UTC. The Moon is about 364,190 km from Earth, nearer than its average distance. There is no eclipse and no planet within orb of a major aspect to the lunation. No planet is retrograde at the time, which leaves the chart unusually plain.
The tradition treats Aries, the cardinal fire sign ruled by Mars, as the place of beginnings, initiative and honest self-assertion. Astrologers read a new moon as a seed point. One this late in the sign is often described as the last push of a fresh start before the slower pace of Taurus. With nothing retrograde, astrologers usually see fewer reasons to hesitate. A practical suggestion: choose one small task you have been postponing and take the first concrete step this week.
